Fresh Meat with Pam and Anne: Kristen Larrick and Gabrielle Pe
On September 4, 2013, we had the opportunity to interview two of our Tribe Volleyball Freshmen, Gabrielle Pe and Kristen Larrick. Gabrielle is from Virginia Beach, she plans on majoring in Kinesiology and Process Management and Consulting. Kristen is from Bethesda Maryland, she is currently undecided, but is interested in Premed, Kinesiology and the Business school.
We had the ladies pick questions from our Tribe hat. Kristen, picked the first question:
If Hollywood made a movie about your life who would you want to play the lead role as you?
Gabrielle: Shay Mitchell, from Pretty Little Liars
Kristen: That’s a very good question. I’m going to say Blake Lively.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Gabrielle: That’s deep.
Kristen: For me it’s, “Play with No regrets”
Gabrielle: For me it’s, “Roll with the tide” being from a beach its like go with the flow and ride the waves.
Chad Ochocinco changed his name a few years back, if you could change your name for your sport, what would it be?
Kristen: Everyone on the team calls me Krispy.
Gabrielle: The football team calls me Leilo.
How do you set your goals?
G: You kind of see what you want to achieve, and what you need to get better at. You set your goals from there, and you have to make sure your goals are attainable
K: I repeat that.
K: I am left-handed, but I play right-handed.
G: I have one dimple.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
G: Mine would be to stop time.
What’s the weirdest song on your ipod?
K: I listen to a lot of dubstep! It gets me pumped.
G: I like normal stuff. Boom Boom Boom by Aqua
What do you like to do in your free time?
K: I like to draw and paint
G: I like to play the Ukulele.
Coke or Pepsi?
What are three things, you can’t live without?
K: My dog.
Pam and Anne: What’s her name? We can give her a shout-out?
K: Her name is Mango, flip flops, and my phone
G: Chapstick, surfboard, and my brothers
K: Oh, and my family!
Who is your favorite athlete?/ Who do you look up too?
K: Destinee Hooker, from the US Olympic team.
G: Mine’s Abby Wambach.
Any other sports in high school?
K: Definately, I played varsity basketball for all four years, and I did track. I actually thought I was going to play basketball in college until I picked up volleyball.
G: I played varsity soccer
Olivia Camper (Tribe Soccer): Against me!
What’s the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
K: That’s hard! G: When I was in second grade, I forgot my homework folder at home, so I took one of my classmate’s, who rode the bus with me. My mom caught me, and yelled at me.
K: I can’t sit still, so in class I would stretch my legs out in front me. My teacher put me in the front row, so she would always trip over my legs. She almost gave me detention for it, I just couldn’t sit still!
Do you have a saying or motto that you live by?
K: No regrets.
G: Mine’s a quote.. “We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” It’s a Chuck Palahniuk quote.
K: That would be a good tattoo
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
K: The Heart, from within
G: From my mom, she passed away a couple of years ago.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
G: Honestly, I would say actually playing a varsity sport at the collegiate level.
Walk us through your Game Day Prep…
K: For sure, eating and drinking lots of water.
K: I have to do a pre game dance, no matter what!
Pam and Anne: To what song?
G: Right now it’s Latch by Disclosure.
K: There’s a few, Gas Pedal, Don’t drop that thun thun thun. But in generally, anything you can jump too. I always made my team dance in high school.
G: Then we have our typically volleyball warmup. When people start yelling that gets us pumped!
Favorite TV Show
K: How I Met Your Mother
G: Spongebob, it’s a classic.
