Dean Barker

Meet Dean, our Tribal Fever 2013-2014 guest journalist! He will be writing our new column, #Tribal Domination with Dean Barker

I’m Dean Barker. I’m 15, I’ve lived in Williamsburg my whole life, and I’m a freshman at Warhill High School. My favorite sports are basketball and baseball.

I am a Tribe sports maniac. I am entering my seventh season of supporting the Tribe, I have seen over 200 sporting events, and I am good friends with the players. I intend to attend the College of William and Mary and win an NCAA Championship for Tribe basketball. If I attend, my graduating class will be the class of 2021.

My favorite Tribe sports memory is watching (and listening to) the Tribe’s run to the 2008 CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship Game at home with the flu. We entered the tournament as the #5 seed, and with a mediocre record of 14-15, but we made three consecutive game winning shots, including one against #1 seeded VCU in the semifinals, to propel our way into the first CAA Championship Game in school history. This is still known as one of the most historic postseason runs in not only Tribe basketball history, but in college basketball history.

My favorite team besides the Tribe is the Atlanta Braves. I have been a fan of theirs since I was eight years old.

My favorite quote is “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.” -Eric Thomas.
